I’m not implying that all Filipinas are housewives (or want to be). The Philippines ranks high in terms of women’s rights, and currently has a female president. Women are involved in everything–from the corporate world to government leadership.
But women here are still more family oriented than most of their Western counterparts. Filipinas still put great value on becoming mothers and wives. Many decide to stay at home with their children, which is becoming increasingly rare (sadly) in the West.
